I’ve used this image to enter the ‘Go Green’ competition. It was either that image or a black & white landscape of Attenborough Nature Reserve covered in thick black smoke coming from the power plant about 14 miles away. This photo however is much more inviting and I think a bit more emotionally charged.

This photo was taken in the Arboretum Park in Nottingham. There are many beautiful flowers just like this one in the photo growing right outside the dull and grey bird cages that just seem way too overcrowded. The fact that the birds can smell these bloomed flowers few inches away from their cages but can never actually touch them must be very frustrating, I imagine.

Somehow this image reminds me of Hemingways The Old Man and the Sea because these fishermen with all their gear and efforts try to conquer and exploit this vast body of nature that in reality is completely out of their reach. I actually wanted to tilt the picture to achieve the illusion of the water coming down on them but I’ve decided to stay truthful to the horizon.

This woman agreed to have a portrait taken only if it was shot by the walls of her old building where she used to live as a child. I found this very interesting. Not too far from her old building I’ve noticed some trees being treated and prepared for the winter time and I thought that these trees and this person had a strong connection.
