I’ve used this image to enter the ‘Go Green’ competition. It was either that image or a black & white landscape of Attenborough Nature Reserve covered in thick black smoke coming from the power plant about 14 miles away. This photo however is much more inviting and I think a bit more emotionally charged.

Recently I’ve photographed a wedding service at the Shakespeare Registration office in the centre of Nottingham. This photo was taken right outside the building few moments after the service. I have noticed that because of the excitement in the air freezing the action often reveals fantastic dynamics in pictures.

Artwork by Venkat Raman Singh Shyam. Acrylic on canvas 51″ x 36″. According to the artist “When Pada Dev (Great God) created the world, Ashtangini Mata (Mother Ashtangini) was born from his powers, and she in turn gave birth to the gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh, and then asked each one of them to marry her. Brahma and Vishnu refused to do so, and thus she reduced them to ashes. She then went to Mahesh and asked whether he would marry her. This he was ready to do – in a later incarnation, providing she restore Brahma and Vishnu back to life..” Part of the Pardhan Gond paintings exhibition in New Art Exchange, Nottingham.

Recently I have photographed a wedding in Shottle Hall, Derbyshire and as I am now finishing the album I have decided to include this photo here as well. The weather was perfect for romantic and enigmatic shots. This is the time of day when dark skies change the quality of light and bring out the subtle variations of colour in everything. I have slightly helped it in Lightroom (about + 0.7 for grass and -0.7 for skies) just to get a more authentic look.

There are many beautiful flowers just like this one in the photo growing right outside the dull and grey bird cages that just seem way too overcrowded. The fact that the birds can smell these bloomed flowers few inches away from their cages but can never actually touch them must be very frustrating, I imagine.

Recently I started experimenting with HDR images and multiple exposures. This photo is of Nottingham Playhouse was taken at about 8 pm and consists of three images. HDR is definitely the future of imaging and I’m sure that all camera makers aspire to produce digital sensors and intelligent processors to register HDR without the need for multiple exposures. It might take a few more years, but it will definitely come sooner then expected.

Somehow this image reminds me of Hemingways The Old Man and the Sea because these fishermen with all their gear and efforts try to conquer and exploit this vast body of nature that in reality is completely out of their reach. I actually wanted to tilt the picture to achieve the illusion of the water coming down on them but I’ve decided to stay truthful to the horizon.
